What are the structural characteristics of the cage type constant angular velocity universal joint?
Time:2025.10.20
The cage type universal joint consists of 6 steel balls, a star shaped sleeve (inner raceway), a spherical shell (outer raceway), and a cage (cage). The star shaped sleeve and the drive shaft are fixed together with splines. The outer surface of the star shaped sleeve has 6 arc-shaped groove raceways, and the inner surface of the spherical shell has 6 corresponding grooves. The 6 steel balls are respectively installed in each groove and kept in the same plane by the ball cage. The power is output by the drive shaft, steel ball, and spherical shell.
When the cage type equal angular velocity universal joint works, all six steel balls participate in force transmission, so it has strong bearing capacity, low wear, and long service life. It is widely used in various models of steering drive axles and independent suspension drive axles.
